Why Brazil is different
"Brazil requires a CPF (local tax ID) to buy a prepaid SIM. Tourists without a CPF legally cannot purchase one — even at airport kiosks that claim otherwise, the purchase is technically invalid and may be deactivated. An eSIM is the only clean option for short-term visitors."
Brazil is the largest country in Latin America by area and population — five times the size of Argentina, three times the size of Mexico. Claro, Vivo, and TIM Brazil split the market roughly equally but only Claro has serious Amazon Basin coverage.
Brazilian physical SIMs require a CPF (Brazilian tax ID), which foreign visitors cannot obtain without a long-term visa. An eSIM skips this entirely.
Coverage you can actually measure.
We run Brazil on 2 carriers so your profile falls back automatically if one signal drops. Coverage figures are measured against our own uptime data, not carrier marketing claims.

Troubleshooting
- Amazon riverboat trips (Manaus → Tabatinga) have coverage at town stops only — days between stops are offline.
- Pantanal wildlife tours beyond the lodge are offline by design.
- Favela tours: coverage is normal but tour operators recommend device security precautions.

Iguaçu Falls tourist

Questions people actually ask.
- Yes. Brazilian regulation requires a CPF (Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas) for all prepaid SIMs. Tourists without a CPF cannot legally obtain one, and airport kiosks claiming otherwise are selling profiles that may be deactivated. An eSIM from abroad uses international roaming and is exempt.
