Why Mexico is different
"Telcel covers 95% of Mexico's inhabited land area — AT&T Mexico is only 72%. Single-carrier plans on AT&T leave you offline in Chiapas and Oaxaca."
Mexico received 45 million tourists in 2024, the overwhelming majority crossing from the US for short trips. US carriers charge $10–15 per day for Mexican roaming even though the border is right there — a 7-day trip costs more in roaming than the flight.
Our Mexico plans use Telcel. Telcel is the dominant carrier and the only one with reliable coverage in the Yucatán interior, the Chiapas highlands, and the Oaxacan Sierra. AT&T Mexico is the urban fallback.
Coverage you can actually measure.
We run Mexico on 2 carriers so your profile falls back automatically if one signal drops. Coverage figures are measured against our own uptime data, not carrier marketing claims.

Troubleshooting
- Chiapas and Oaxaca mountains: AT&T Mexico drops frequently. Telcel is the only reliable option.
- Tulum and Bacalar: both have coverage in town but patchy along the beach zones south of town.
- Mexico City Metro: most lines have coverage in stations and major tunnels.
Who Mexico eSIM is built for.
Riviera Maya beach traveller
Cancún, Playa, Tulum, Bacalar. Telcel covers all four even when AT&T Mexico drops between towns.
US cross-border visitor
US AT&T and Verizon charge $12–15/day for Mexico roaming. Our 15-day plan costs the same as a single day of home-carrier fees.
Mexico City foodie
CDMX 5G is excellent. Navigate markets, reserve tables, translate menus — all on a 5 GB plan.
