Why Indonesia is different
"Only Telkomsel has working coverage on Komodo, Flores, and Raja Ampat. Generic "Indonesia" eSIMs that use Indosat or Tri leave you offline in the Nusa Tenggara islands where most divers go."
Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world and the largest archipelago — 17,000 islands spread across three time zones. Telkomsel is the only carrier with coverage reaching into the outer islands; other providers get you Java and Bali but not much beyond.
Our Indonesia plans route through Telkomsel primarily with Indosat fallback. Bali has full 5G on both carriers. Komodo and Raja Ampat trips should assume intermittent coverage at best.
Coverage you can actually measure.
We run Indonesia on 2 carriers so your profile falls back automatically if one signal drops. Coverage figures are measured against our own uptime data, not carrier marketing claims.
Telkomsel
4G · 5G
Dominant carrier. Best outer-island coverage.
Indosat
4G · 5G
Good urban Java/Bali coverage; weak outside.

Troubleshooting
- Komodo, Flores, Raja Ampat have Telkomsel-only coverage and even that drops on open water.
- Heavy rain in West Java and Sumatra causes 4G degradation.
- Bali rice terraces at Tegallalang and Jatiluwih have weak signal — bring offline maps.
Who Indonesia eSIM is built for.
Bali remote worker
Canggu and Ubud have reliable 5G. Monthly unlimited plans work for nomad stays.
Komodo diver
Telkomsel-preferred routing is the only reliable option for Labuan Bajo and the park.
Borobudur pilgrim
Yogyakarta and Borobudur have full 4G. Plan a dawn temple visit with live translation and navigation.

Questions people actually ask.
- Functionally no. Telkomsel covers the inhabited major islands (Java, Bali, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Lombok, Flores, parts of Papua). Remote uninhabited islands have no cellular service regardless of provider.
